In recent years, works have been carried out at international level on the fundamentals of a new comparative linguistics which, unlike the comparative-historical method of young grammarians, do not only study genetically related languages. The new contrastive grammar also aims to describe languages that are not genetically related. It bases its research on the sum of the differences between the main language (mother tongue) and the target language (foreign language). Contrastive linguistics finds only its indirect applicability in the methodology of language teaching, making its theoretical studies available to textbook authors, language teachers, translators, etc
