Categories of time and space are closely linked within a single artwork. Many researchers have devoted their works to the chronotope analysis in literature. This work is devoted to the chronotope study of the novel by L. Ulitskaya “Case of Cucotsky “ through the prism of thanatology and the revealing of time and space characteristics, which help to disclose the mortal aspect. The close loci are dominated in the text, they are similar to the coffin and grave by their shapes and sizes. The novel world of goods and things is fi lled with negative connotations and is associated with mortal attributes (coffin, monument, cross).
