The paper analyzes the issues of foreign influence in the think tank sector. The issues of foreign financing of think tanks, ensuring the intellectual sovereignty of the state, as well as the risks that arise if these issues are ignored are discussed. International practice and observed developments in this area are considered. Based on this analysis, some suggestions are presented that can be useful for regulating and developing the think tank sector, as well as for a more effective use of the intellectual resources of such institutions in the national interest of the state
