Mesh Garden explores participatory music-making with smart- phones using an audio sequencer game made up of a distributed smartphone speaker system. The piece allows a group of people in a relaxed situation to create a piece of ambient music using their smartphones networked through the internet. The players' interactions with the music are derived from the orientations of their phones. The work also has a gameplay aspect; if two players' phones match in orientation, one player has the option to take the other player's note, building up a bank of notes that will be used to form a melody
