Mangrove productivity varies in space and time depending on community structure, phenology, resource availability and salinity stress. In Indian Sundarbans, mangrove species with different growth rate sequester significant amount of carbon. This study reports the applicability of using leaf level RNA:DNA ratios for assessing intraspecific and interspecific differences in carbon sequestration of four mangrove species under field condition.
