Mapping the Research Output on Multiple Disabilities: A Scientometric Study

Multiple disabilities is a term for an individual with two or more combination of disabilities, for example, cognitive, movement, sensory such as mental retardation with cerebral palsy are common. There are four types of major multiple disabilities they are physical, developmental, behavioral or emotional and sensory impaired. physical Disability such as Muscular Dystrophy, Epilepsy, and Cerebral Palsy prevents normal body movement and control. There are many reasons for physical disabilities which include genetics, serious illness, spinal cord injury and brain damage. Common developmental disabilities are Down syndrome and fragile x syndrome which are generally noticed prematurely on because of mental or physical impairments. A behavioral or emotional disability has much probable uniqueness which includes an incapability to build or maintain interpersonal relationships, a lack of ability to learn, and feelings of despair or nervousness, anxiety and symptoms of inattentiveness, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Sensory impairment disabilities are one of the senses like sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, spatial awareness is not functioning in a normal level. It also includes imperfect hearing or visual impairment. This may cause due to injury and infection sometimes genetics can also play a significant role. There is a general perspective that research output of the particular field reveals the growth pattern and impact of literature. It also predict the growth of literature in the upcoming years and helps the administrators, policy makers to reinforce the research activity and to diminish the disease burden and make certain the wellbeing of the people of India
