Complexes of copper(II) azide and tetrafluoborates were prepared with several substituted imidazoles. The complexes were either planar and four-coordinated as in CuL2(N3)2 (L=1-Vinyl, 2-Isopropyl, 2-Ethyl imidazole) or tetragonal and six-coordinated as in CuL4(N3)2(L=1-Methyl, 2-Methyl imidazole) and [CuL4(BF4)2](L=1-Vinyl, 2-Methyl, 2-Isopropyl imidazole). The compounds do not have any Cu-Cu interaction, as is clear from the experimental magnetic moments lying in the 1.7-1.9 B.M. range.
