A problem to minimize the aging of surface properties of polyethylene films treated in high-frequency discharge plasma – the effect inherent to plasma modification process – is considered. It is shown that the operating conditions of a high-frequency discharge should be selected so that the time of plasma treatment be equal (not more!) to the time of the sample mass growth due to oxygen-containing surface groups, and also the sample temperature be equal to 70°C. The dependence of the specific power of a high-frequency discharge per the film thickness responding simultaneously to the both named conditions is defined
