Humans often use the conceptualization of body parts to perceive reality, and so it is not uncommon that this also influences language. In order to find out whether the body is perceived and described in the same way in different languages, we focus on the contrastive analysis of somatisms, a subset of set phrases containing names of body parts from the semantic field success/failure in English, German and Georgian. The terms of body parts belong to the oldest layers of the vocabulary of any language. Human body parts are also used for the symbolic expression of various facts and conceptualized as the location of emotional and mental activities.
