A Study of Complex Compounds of N-Benzenesulphonyl Glycines with Some Metal Ions. Part XII. N-p Toluenesulphonyl Glycine

N-p Toluenesulphonyl glycine (RtH2) forms complex compounds with Cu(II), Ag(I), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II). With Cu(II), the compounds isolated are Cu(RtH)(OH)(H2O)H2O, Cu(RtH)2 , [Cu(RtH)(OH)]2 and Na2Cu(Rt)2 - Zn(II) and Cd(II) forms bis-complexes, but Cd(II) is also found to give Cd(RtH)(OH) (H2O). With Ag(I) one complex Ag(RtH) is obtained in the pure state. Hg(II) compounds have composition Hg(RtH)(OH)(H2O) and K2Hg(Rt)2· Magnetic data of all Cu(II) complexes and eelectronio and i.r. spectral data of most Cu(II) complexes as well as some of N-benzenesulphonyl glycine (R2H2) are recorded.
