The scarcity of petroleum products is forcing renewable energy resources to be more attractive. Biodiesel is an alternative fuel created through the transesterification of vegetable oils and animal fats. The most important biodiesel quality parameters are obtained by paying attention to and making a trade-off between reaction time and temperature. The presence of contaminants in the feedstock, such as water and free fatty acids, or impurities in the final products, such as methanol, free glycerine, or soap, causes difficulties during this process.
