Background: Patients are found to suffer from diverse emotional and psychiatric problems after open-heart surgery. However, no clear cut statistics and evidence has been brought to light regarding the incidence and the course of symptoms, cognitive changes, and quality of life among the patients. This study is envisioned to outline the pre- and postoperative psychiatric portfolio, of patients undergoing open heart surgery.
