An analysis of the results of the students performing the tasks of external independent testing in mathematics shows that in recent years, about 80% of test participants were not able to determine the type and cross-section of a given polygon plane, in particular the pyramid. Therefore, the problem of improving the method of teaching students to build cross sections of polyhedra is urgent. The purpose of the article is to find out the peculiarities of constructing a system of tasks by ready drawings on the theme "Cross sections of the pyramid".
