In this work, several new compounds containing tetraphenylene (TPE) units and dimesitylboron groups were synthesized through Sonogashira coupling reaction. The compounds showed the aggregation induced emission (AIE), emitted the different color and gave the relatively high quantum yield of fluorescence in solid state. Two of the compounds demonstrated the prospective application in data storage, and one molecule also displayed the potential value in biological fluorescent cell imaging
