Abstract: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship of academic motivation and self-regulated learning in Nyeri County, Kenya. The study was guided by Self-Determination Theory (SDT) (Deci and Ryan,1985). The study adopted an ex-post research design. Purposive sampling, simple random sampling, proportionate sampling and stratified sampling were used to select a sample of 200 form three students (131boys and 69 girls) from 4 public secondary school in Nyeri Central Sub-County, Nyeri County Kenya.
