Volatile and monomeric tetranuclear lanthanide-zirconium isopropoxides

Department of Chemistry, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur-302 004, Rajasthan, India Manuscript received 26 May 2010. accepted 03 November 2010 Volatile, hydrocarbon soluble, and monomeric derivatives of lanthanides and yttrium (abriviated collectively as Ln) of the type LnZr3(OPr1) 15, where Ln = Y (I), La (2),Pr (3), Nd (4), Eu (5), Gd (6), Tb (7),Dy (8).Ho (9), Er (10), and Lu (11) have been prepared by the 1 : 3 reaction of LnCl3.3PriOH With K{Zr(OPri)5} in benzene. These novel compounds have been charecterized by elemental and isoopropoxo group analyses and molecular weight measurements as well as by their spectroscopic [lR, NMR (1H and 13C), electronic], and magnetic studies in suitable cases
