1000 years ago all literature was oral and the less in number which was available in writing was in the form of the manuscript. Our Indian Epic and spiritual books like Ramayan, Mahabharat ,Bhagwat Geeta ,Gyaneshwari, Tukaram Gatha was available in writing was in the form of the manuscript. Original spiritual books were so large that's why it was very difficult for the books to carry them. This was the situation all over the world before invention printing press. Gutenberg invented the printing press. Gutenberg revolutionary invention in the 15th century revolutionized the way books are reproduced and along with it peoples reading habit changed. It is only after the invention of the printing press that we have printed literature and now a day has come that we are carrying the literature in our mobile phones it is because of Technology.
