We perform five simulations forced by climatological annual varying SST (ClimSST forced simulation 1-5) in which the mode is integrated for 41 years. The five climatological SST forced simulations started from five different initial states. Our analysis is based on the 39-year outputs of all the simulations. The initial horizontal resolution of the results derived from the simulations is about 1.9º × 2.5º but is interpolated to 2.5º×2.5º horizontal resolution for comparing with observational datasets
