The aim of this review article is to understand the chemistry of molecular ensembles and the role of intermolecular interactions with the help of supramolecular chemistry. Currently it is a major interdisciplinary branch of science which deals with the chemical, biological, physical and technological aspects of understanding and creating the chemical complex system which are based on non-covalent interactions. Crystal engineering plays an important role in a direction of supramolecular chemistry which aims to design the periodic structures with the desired supramolecularsynthon. This paper gives the short review on the goals and research objects of crystal engineering and supramolecular chemistry
