The Ethical and Social Implications of Political Science Research and Teaching in Nigeria

This paper examines the ethical and social implications of political science research and teaching in Nigeria. It argues that political science as a discipline has a responsibility to contribute to the advancement of democracy, good governance, and human rights in Nigeria, as well as to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and professionalism. The study adopts a qualitative research method by reviewing documents from various sources, such as books, journals, reports, and websites. The study identifies some of the challenges and opportunities that political science researchers and teachers face in Nigeria, such as funding, motivation, innovation, curriculum, relevance, quality, impact, and ethics. The study also suggests some recommendations for improving the practice and performance of political science research and teaching in Nigeria, such as enhancing collaboration, diversification, dissemination, evaluation, and accountability. The study concludes that political science research and teaching in Nigeria can play a vital role in advancing the socio-political and economic development of the country if they are conducted and delivered with ethical and social awareness and sensitivity
