Binuclear Metal Chelates of Biphenyldihydrazone of 1,3-Diketones

Kerala-673 635 Manuscript received 2 September 1993. revised 9 June 1994, accepted 22 July 1994 Reaction of biphenyl-4,4' -tetrazonium ion with 1,3-diketones (benoylacetone, dibenjoylinethane and thenoyl-trifluoroacetone) led to the formalion of 2,2' -(4,4' -biphenyldihydrazono)bis(1,2,3-triketones). The compounds have been shown to exist in the intramolecularly hydrogen-bonded dihydrazones. Bimetallic chelates of composition M2L2 (M = CuII , NiII and PdII ) have been synthesised and characterised on the basis of ir, 1H and 13C nmr aud mass spectral data
