Educational leadership and management may be considered a "discipline", but it has a brief history marked by turbulence and its future is in doubt. The 1970s to the mid-1990s may seem like a golden age in retrospect. This was in response to a question asked by the Management Editors in Education (Ribbins , 2007a:3).
