The Culture of Quality

Both managers and proactive teachers with well-developed reflexive skills have come to the conclusion that the creation of quality assurance committees and the development and implementation of standards alone are not sufficient to ensure the highest level of quality of educational services. The decisive factor of quality production in an educational institution is the culture of quality. The authors of the article propose answers to two questions: What does culture of quality mean in an educational institution? How to “build” a culture of quality in an institution? The article combines philosophical reasoning on the meaning of the term “culture of quality” with practical suggestions that may be easily implemented in the educational institution. Readers will have the opportunity to test the level of culture of quality in their institution and to make decisions on issues that call for more attention. The main message is: the culture of quality is an organizational context that determines the quality level of educational services; it starts from “me” and extends to “us”, from a teacher to the entire academic community in the institution
