Chemistry Department, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi-29 Manuscript received 12 August 1974; revised 29 January 1975 accepted 11 February 1975 This article describes the effect of increasing sugar concentrations on the compression strength of neat cement pastes. There exists an optimum sugar concentration at which the compression strength becomes maximum. Attempts have been made to correlate the compression strength data with differential thermal and thermogravimetric analysis of the set sample
