Nonlinear optical amino acid single crystals of pure glycine and glycinium oxalate crystals were successfully grown by slow evaporation solution growth method. The grown crystals were subjected to different characterization studies in order to test its suitability for device fabrication. X-ray diffraction studies were carried out to examine the lattice parameters and crystallinity nature. The presence of various functional groups and their modes of vibration were identified using Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectral analysis. Optical spectral studies have been carried out to find the band gap and optical constants of the material.
