Science College, Gwalior-474 002 Manuscript received 1 August 1980, revised 30 April 1981, accepted 20 June 1981 The kinetics of oxidation reaction is studied in presence of excess of substrate and acid concentrations and by estimating unreacted oxidant titrimetrically. The observed pseudo first order rate constant kobs (sec-1) is found to increase with [D-sorbitol], [H2SO4]2 [HSO\(\bar{4}\)]2, ionic strength and with the percentage composition of acetic acid in the binary mixture of acetic acid water.
