Over three years, from 2013 to 2016, samples from timbers from the archaeological excavation at Gammel Strand in Copenhagen have been analysed dendrochronologically. The excavations were carried out by Københavns Museum in connection with Metro Cityring project, with Stuart Whatley as the excavation leader. The dendrochronological analysis was carried out to enable the precise dating of the felling of the trees used in a series of large quayside constructions and to determine the region where these trees had grown.
