In ancient Greek world, the images on pottery represent a fundamental instrument for the transmission of messages of a political and social nature. In this sense, the image of the barbarian, especially after the Persian wars, can help us to understand the cultural keys by which the Greek world defined itself and its alleged superiority over the eastern world. The aim of this contribution is focused on some productions of the Sotades workshop that apparently seems overturn this paradigm
