ANÁLISE COMPARATIVA DO DIMENSIONAMENTO DE UM BLOCO DE COROAMENTO SOBRE DUAS ESTACAS UTILIZANDO O MÉTODO ANALÍTICO E O MÉTODO NUMÉRICO

The main goal of this work is the comparative analysis between two analytic methods and one numeric method of pile-caps dimensioning. The analytic methods involved in the comparison were the one obtained in the study by Carvalho e Pinheiro (2009) and the other obtained in the study by Fusco (1995). The numeric method used was based on the Finite Element Method of pile-caps dimensioning using the ANSYS software. In the analysis, the pile-cap is supported by two piles, with a center top surface loading of a rectangular column on it. Hence, the results of maximum and medium stress developed in the struts using the numeric method and the results of acting stress in the struts calculated by the analytical method were compared. This comparison showed that the Carvalho and Pinheiro (2009) method is more conservator. While the stress results obtained analytically using the Carvalho and Pinheiro method were similar to the maximum stress results obtained by the numeric method, the Fusco (1995) method showed stress results similar to the medium stresses calculated by the numeric method, using the software ANSYS. Beyond that, is verified that the structural capacity of a pile-cap depends on its concrete resistance. While the armour didn’t reach the yield stress, the two dimensioned pile-caps reached values near the concrete crushing stress
