Development Of Authentic Assessment Models Of Speaking Skills Elementary School Students In Medan City

This research is based on problems related to the development of authentic assessments to assess the speaking skills of students who have not used valid, reliable, effective, and practical assessment instruments.The methodology used in the research and development (R&D) Plomp model. The research was carried out in an elementary school in the city of Medan. The resulting product was validated by evaluation experts, material experts, media experts, and education practitioners, then continued with individual tests, small group tests, and large groups. The assessment instrument developed was tested for validity and reliability, testing effectiveness, and testing practicality. The research findings show: (1) mThe authentic assessment model developed is an assessment instrument model to assess students' speaking skills equipped with model books, teacher manuals, and assessment instruments that have been validated for feasibility by educational experts and practitioners, (2) the results of testing the validity of the speaking skills assessment instrument using the Aiken formula and product-moment correlation show that overall the instrument items are valid, (3) the results of the reliability testing of the speaking skills assessment instrument by calculating the interrater reliability coefficient (between raters) obtained the price of the reliability coefficientof 0.82. Furthermore, the results of the reliability test of the speaking skills assessment instrument using the Alpha Cronbach formula showed a reliability coefficient of 0.86. In this case, the reliability coefficients of 0.82 and 0.86 indicate high reliability, (4) mThe authentic assessment model of speaking skills developed is proven to be effective in increasing the achievement of students' speaking skills learning outcomes with the N-Gain coefficient 0.42 moderate category, and (5) the authentic speaking skills assessment model developed has a practical level with a score of 2.92 the practical category needs improvement in the first try and a score of 3.50 very practical category in the second try. The conclusion of the research is an authentic speaking skill assessment model that is developed to be feasible, valid, reliable, effective, and practical to assess students' speaking skills
