Results on the shifts in pH. obtained by tainting anionic casein with hydrous oxide solo of cobalt, nickel, and silver. indicate that the protein combines with the metal ions of the sob. Viscosity measurements also lead to the same conclusion. The possibility of the metal ion combining with the imidazole groups of the casein has also been indicated on the basis of pH titration, carried out between the electrolyte solution and the protein
