Efficiency of public policy in the sphere of innovative activities as a mechanism of ensuring public trust in Ukraine

The article emphasizes that, in the current conditions of transitivity of socio-economic processes, the effectiveness of public policy in the field of innovation is the basic mechanism for forming the foundations of sustainable economic development and ensuring public confidence in Ukraine. In order to study the state, urgent problems and prospects of innovation development in Ukraine, quantitative and qualitative indicators of innovation activity have been studied. It was found that during 2010–2019 there was a reduction in the number of organizations engaged in research (hereinafter – R & D) and the number of employees engaged in research and development. Gender aspects among GDR performers, the structure of GDR performers with distribution by age, level of education, branches of knowledge, availability of scientific degrees are studied. It was revealed that in 2020, according to the Global Innovation Index, Ukraine took the 45th place in the published rating, and according to the ratings of the European Innovation Scoreboard 2020 – the penultimate 38th, ahead of only Romania. It is emphasized that the current state of innovation is the result of a consistent state policy to transfer Ukraine to an innovative path of development, which would ensure the formation of innovation culture in the country, using, in addition to financial, other mechanisms for innovation. Only on this basis it is possible to intensify the growth rate of gross domestic product and ensure the competitiveness of the national economy. Given the fact that the financial support of innovation in Ukraine is currently quite limited, in order to create the preconditions for its increase, it is necessary to implement a set of measures to mobilize existing and potential financial resources, in particular by attracting investment
