Ekonomik, Sosyal ve Çevresel Dönüşümde Yeşil Ekonominin Rolü

The concept of green economy, which was used for the first time within the scope of combating environmental problems in the late 1980s, has turned into an approach adopted by many international institutions and organizations after the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. Many studies have been conducted to show that the green economy can be effective in solving many socio-economic problems such as unemployment and social injustice, as well as environmental problems triggered by the climate crisis. In the environmental strategies implemented under the leadership of the public in recent years, the green economy has been defined as a transformation strategy by going one step further. Within the scope of this study, it has been discussed whether the green economy has the potential to transform in terms of economic, social and environmental aspects. According to the results obtained from the study, the green economy has an important role in ensuring the green transition. However, the potential to create a social and economic transformation is lower than environmental issues. Because the green economy provides softening of socio-economic problems with methods such as increasing employment, but it cannot completely eliminate social injustices. Another important problem in terms of green economy is that it is not thought to be beneficial in closing the gap between the wealthy countries and the poor countries. Countries with high levels of welfare will be at the top in the production of environmental goods/services and will prevent poor countries from closing the gap. The green economy may still be a fairer transition strategy alternative to the old accumulation regime
