Abstract In the book AWS D1.1 the allowable open weld angle is between 60o to 75o, then is there a difference in mechanical strength between the 60o angle and the 75o angle?. This will be studied in this study and aims to compare the effect of variations in the V 60o joint angle with the V 75o joint angle on the mechanical properties of ASTM A36 carbon steel welded joints with with a width of 180 mm and a thickness of 16 mm.
