Aim: To evaluate the effect of coenzyme Q10 supplementation on glycemic control, oxidative stress and adiponectin levels in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods: A randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled study was conducted in people with type 2 diabetic patients. Patients and controls received 100 mg coenzyme Q10 or placebo twice daily for eight weeks. Various measurements were made at the beginning and end of the intervention. These include markers for measuring glycemic control (fasting blood sugar and glycated hemoglobin); an oxidative stress marker (malonic aldehyde); and anti-inflammatory marker (adiponectin).
