Officially adopted at the International, Ukrainian and Russian level, the definition of the document is proposed to be understood broadly, allowing the document to be considered a natural source of information, i.e. a person. Accordingly, along with the document as an object of artificial origin, the scope of the concept of the document includes the object of natural origin. Methodologically, the validity of such a review follows from the definition of the document adopted by the international organization for standardization, as well as Russian and Ukrainian state standards. The author substantiates the validity of the existence of many definitions of the document, depending on the specifics and profile of the relevant social system
