The goal of this article is to map and analyse Western and Latin American contributions to human rights. Firstly, we will highlight the value and limits of the former, which have been hegemonically universalized; secondly, we will explicit the latter, ‘silenced’ systems of thought which have been violently suppressed by colonial and postcolonial forces thus far. By bringing to light these ‘new’ human rights’ understandings and perspectives, this text aims to build a fruitful and horizontal epistemological dialogue in this area, thus ultimately contributing to a less incomplete universality of human rights and to a more complete human being
