Reusing research software, the software that advances society by supporting and contributing to academic research, is hard. The difficulty lies in locating the necessary algorithm, extracting and importing the relevant source code, and giving proper recognition to the original developers of the research software. To address these issues, a tool infrastructure is presented that aims to make research software more FAIR, i.e Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable. The FAIRSECO tool infrastructure addresses two critical information needs: firstly, it provides potential users of research software with metrics related to software quality, provenance information, and impact data.
