ACUTE CHEMICAL POISONINGS AMONG CHILDREN IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA DURING THE YEARS 2012-2020

Objectives. Lately, the complexity and diversity of the use of chemical substances by the population has become a pressing problem in the public health system at the global and national level, because it can subsequently cause acute chemical poisonings, especially among children who are more sensitive to their action. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the situation regarding acute chemical poisonings among children in order to prevent or reduce them. Materials and methods. A descriptive, retrospective study was carried out on acute chemical poisonings among children by years, etiology, during the 2012-2020 years. Results. Analysis of the statistical data presented by the specialists of the territorial Public Health Centers according to the Statistical Form f. 18-san. demonstrated that the number of cases of acute chemical poisonings among children is decreasing, with 1101 poisonings recorded in 2016, 938 affected in 2017 and 437 affected in 2020 year. The most cases of poisoning were recorded in 2015, 1742 affected with 4 deceased children. The substances that caused the largest share of acute chemical poisonings were medicines, being registered 45% of all cases of poisonings in children, followed by alcohol poisonings – 14%, gases – 10%. Conclusions. As a result, it was proven that the practice of organizing health promotion activities, in the field of chemical risks, the practical implementation of the order of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection no. 348 of 19.03.2019 "on the notification, investigation and monitoring of cases acute chemical non-professional poisonings in the Republic of Moldova" has a positive impact on children's health and the level of morbidity associated with chemicals
