Price Formation of Agricultural Produce at Various Levels of Saturation of Social Demand

The article reveals the peculiarities of the price formation of agricultural produce, on the methodological basis of the new and more developed interpretation of price put forward by Karl Marx in the third volume of Capital. The first section of the article shows how prices are formed under the influence of the socially necessary expenditure of labour, with the volume of demand from society for agricultural produce remaining unchanged. This investigation is conducted using the example of the first (initial) stage of the functioning of the agro-food market in developed countries during the nineteenth century. The second section of the article reveals the features of price formation under the impact of changes in social demand. This research employs the example of the second stage of the functioning of the agro-food market in developed countries during the twentieth century, with a high level of saturation of demand
