Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, M.S. University, Baroda-2 Received 12 July 1971 Mixed ligand formation constants KMAL (where M = Cn2+, Ni2+, Zn2+ and Cd2+; A= dipyridyl; L =catechol, pyrogallol or protocatechuic acid) have been determined by using a modified form of lrving-Rossotti technique. Values of KMAL have been found to be very close to KML in Ni2+, Zn2+ and Cd2+ and KMAL > KML in Cu(ll) system. This relationship has been explained in terms of charge neutralization, interaction and favourable geometry
