Oral cysts are commonly seen by patients at outpatients' clinics, and because of their heterogeneity, it is essential for dentists to be well oriented to their types and classification. Many classification systems exist for oral cysts. They can be classified according to their site, their aetiology, and their embryogenic origin. To date, several treatment options are available for management of different types of oral cysts. Proper management of each oral cyst requires an appropriate diagnosis of its type and classification. Therefore, this article aims at reviewing and summarizing the classification and the aetiology of the most common oral cysts and discussing their main lines of treatment.
