With the existing energy systems and electricity grids worldwide being developed as smart systems and grids with increased renewable energy in general, there are critical needs in smart grid knowledge, development, testing, demonstration, evaluation, education and training. The University of Cyprus (UCY) is presently establishing a complete new green-field campus in Nicosia and is looking at the opportunity to introduce smart, sustainable and cost and energy efficient solutions for the energy services at the campus as a truly smart grid living lab.
