A Study on Green and Sustainable-Factory Building in terms of Design, Planning, Construction & Operation to reply the Energy Crisis in Bangladesh Urban context

Recently Bangladesh has about more than 150 Energy efficient structures with global recognition. And out of these 143 buildings with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation are from garment sectors which made them the highest in the world. Of these factories, 41 are platinum rated and the rest are gold and silver-rated ones certified by the USGBC [1]. Also, around 500 more apparel factories are waiting to be certified by the USGBC as green factory buildings. Since, the nation’s revolutionary export sector, the clothing industry grips the obligation of moving the machine of financial progress however cannot remain uncaring to the adverse externalities of development – particularly when it matters to the ecology and climate. Green factory structures are ecology responsive in design, construction, planning and process, which cut and/or remove harmful effects and recover the value of life through its lifespan. These buildings have cleaner air circulation, more access to daylight, less pollution, harm-free chemical paints and finishing, which create a healthier working environment. The improved quality of the environment does not only decrease the dominance of several breathing ailments such as asthma and respiratory allergies but also encourages workers and boosts retention rate and productivity [2]
