Inequality exists in various forms in different societies, ranging from unequal distribution allocation of goods and services to differentials in reward allocations and classification of people and groups into hierarchical layers based on prestige and wealth. These classifications based on socio-economic standing are also present in the workplace like they are in the larger society, and have been explained from various schools of thought by various sociologists over the years.
