Increasing atmospheric CO2 concentrations, the global warming impacts it induces, and the risk of crossing dangerous tipping points have brought along a need for climate change mitigation. One such proposed option is carbon storage. The suggestions for storage of carbon are many and of varying storage length. However, for this type of mitigation strategy to work, it has to ensure real long-term climatic benefits. Thus, the aim of this project was to assess current suggestions for crediting of temporary carbon storage and their ability to ensure real benefits, considered relative to the global carbon cycle
