Summary The article deals with the study, methods of determining and practical application of the psychological component of the rehabilitation potential of a person with disabilities. Characteristics of individuals with disabilities and different levels of psychological rehabilitation potential are given, they may be high, medium, low. Depending on the degree of main parts of rehabilitative potential its level is being diagnosed. Level of rehabilitative potential is an integral characteristics of a disabled person features which covers all stages of his development and socialization as personality from his birth and occurrence of the disease to current social status and psychic features forming in the course of the disease and combining individual cognitive, emotional, motivational, communicative, moral and ethic peculiarities of a person and the main direction of personal and social developmen as well as valuable orientation of a disabled person. The results obtained show a high meaning of psychological component of rehabilitative potential at design and fulfillment of prophylactic and rehabiliatative measures in disabled persons. At the development of individual rehabilitative programmes one should take into account psychoemotional potential of nervous processes of a disabled person, degree of their decrease which characterize his conpensatory possibilities and their resourve and determination of psychic component of rehabilitative potential under the conditions of psychic support and follow – up.
