The topic of this contribution is an evaluation of the structure and evolution of the Research & Development (R&D) expenditure of enterprises operating in particular application segments of the National Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialisation of the Czech Republic (NRIS3 strategy). The source for the analysis are the anonymized yearly statistical surveys on R&D (Annual Statement on Research & Development, VRR 5-01). The analysis indicates that the R&D within the majority of the application segments defined in the NRIS3 strategy is carried out mainly in enterprises under the foreign control.
