Luke 3:7-18 has the most extensive record of John's preaching and interaction with regular people. Even though John preaches repentance and wrath his audience understood repentance would mean avoiding that judgement. Soldiers and Tax collectors want clarity and inclusion and the interaction is priceless. John ultimately points to Christ as the one who can bring true repentance by sending the Spirit
