The majority of patients who seek treatment for common mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, or somatic symptom disorders, do so exclusively with their family physician. This is true for a considerable percentage of individuals. Patients confront the difficulty of restricted access to expert mental health care when seeking therapy, and this is particularly true in rural locations. This is especially true in rural areas.
